Trying to Learn a New Trick

I've never been a bargainer. I'm not sure if it is a part of my wiring. I don't go to flea markets and I am a little nervous to buy a new car.

But I decided to try a little bargaining.

I was recently head-hunted for a position here in Toledo. It would be a pretty interesting job, but they didn't want to pay me as much as I am making now. I don't want to stay in Toledo for less than I make now. That's plum crazy considering I'm not all that into the Glass City. But I decided to do the interview anyway because interview experience is always good.

When the headhunter called today to ask how it went and what my interest level in the job is, I explained, I don't know if I would want to settle in Toledo for less than what I am currently making and I do have a Master's degree that should be accounted for. And the say, "if the company comes back with a counter offer of $X, would you consider taking the position?" And I said yes. Wouldn't it be crazy if I got the money I wanted and a cool job?

I also have a phone interview later today for a job near Columbus. That I would probably take for less money than I making now (not a lot less, I'm no fool) because I would be able to relocate and start fresh.

Most likely, everything will blow up in my face and I won't get either job. That's cool though, I still have a job and I can save for possibilities I have brewing on the backburner.

Well, nothing is set in stone yet, PTT. Besides, I haven't even seen you. It's like you still live far away.
